emily bidgood is a square dance caller based in johnson city, tn. she believes that taking a step into the dance circle and holding fast to your neighbor as you swing along is how we make our community a better and more loving place. so find a partner and let's promenade home!

emily began learning about appalachian dancing when she joined the apple chill cloggers. in 2014 thanks to the dare to be square events she became bewitched with love for calling traditional dances from the southern appalachians and creating new dances for today. outside of the u.s. she has gotten to organize and call dances in czech republic, slovakia, spain and ireland. she particularly is good at fostering fun and inclusivity for intergenerational gatherings, and groups who have never square danced before, such as groups for whom english is not their first language.
